Graphic Designer — Saying more with less
After graduating from Southern Methodist University with a degree in Journalism/Advertising Sequence (with an emphasis in fine art and design) I took a job at the software company Computer Support Corporation. CSC’s suite of Arts & Letters software applications were among the first vector-based illustration products on the market. CSC's applications focused on ‘print’… from home/office printing to offset process and spot color printing. As Art Director, I was responsible for the creation of promotional material, magazine ads and layout, copy writing, packaging, and pitching our products at trade shows around the globe.
Since that time I have worked almost exclusively for software start-ups, often focusing on social media and its associated digital assets, interface design, and branding.
Below, you'll find a few branding ideas associated with some of the many urls that I have gathered over the years.
I love me some sloppy Joes
SloppyGo is a long-term project in development. Essentially it’s a food-truck concept that serves the classic American Sloppy Joe in either ground beef or vegi-beef on a toasted bun. The branding has a nostalgic feel, and was mocked up on a napkin… complete with drink stain and a customer’s testimonial.
Is your brand visionary?
The brand, da Vinsee, evokes the clarity of vision, and genius of Leonardo da Vinci whose areas of interest included invention, painting, sculpting, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, writing, history, and cartography. He has been variously called the father of paleontology, ichnology, and architecture, and is widely considered one of the greatest painters of all time.
...another good url that might come in handy some day
The brand, WetWave, could be used for a myriad of products. The brand name could also work for a water park, gloss, surfboard wax… the possibilities are endless. For this example I chose Shampoo and Conditioner.
It's shocking, I say!
The brand, LiveVolt, could be used for a myriad of products... a radio station, or podcast, or blog, etc.
In very general terms, this is a branding mockup for a venue/fan engagement system that would work in realtime during events. I’d say more, but that would be letting the cat out of the bag.
The whistle is for safety. The recording is for justice.
Concept: WhistleStick is the only safety whistle that records audio after the whistle is blown (15 minute recordings).
